so this is a painting i had started AGES ago...December to be exact. i only just now had time to finish it. it was sitting at 90% done for months :/
i feel like i half assed the rest of the details but i did add more and fix some from what was previously painted.
these are my Irisidian mermaids. They are albino mermaids that carry the luck of the Iris.
I have more information about them but i will not reveal it until after i have the time to put ALL ideas onto paper so they are rightfully mine
"The Greek word ~Iris~ means ~rainbow.~ The flower got its name from the Greek goddess Iris, the goddess of the rainbow, who was a messenger on Mount Olympus. Iris would take messages from ~the eye of Heaven~ to earth by the arc of the rainbow. The word iris also means ~eye of heaven.~ It was the name given to the goddess, this flower, and the center of your eye. This means that each of us carries a piece of heaven with us. The iris is the symbol of Idea and Message. Greek men would often plant an iris on the graves of their beloved women as a tribute to the goddess Iris, whose duty was to take the souls of women to the Elysian fields." "
lol! Well, It's something I'm trying to work on too. Sometimes I do better than others. :3 That and buildings. Personally I think you did pretty good with this one.
Only thing with if you make them start as tadpoles, neither fish, nor amphabians(both start as tadpole like things) have any kind of mammarly gland(breasts/milk gland)
Another thing I noticed about your work that I really like is the use of light, shade and tonal values. Very well done.
They also look like they would not be something you'd want to mess wtih.
Am I right assumeing that the thing in her hand is a tadpole of her kind or some such? I like the detail of the water droplets on her as well.
Also is it not awesome to make something that is entirely yours?
and not really
and yes it was fun
